Since there is a turning path in the insertion hole of the oil dipstick, it is required that the deformation of the oil dipstick when it is inserted can rebound and recover when it is pulled out. For this reason, the material of the oil dipstick is generally made of annealed 0.8mm thick 65Mn steel plate cut into 327mm×5mm steel bars. One end of the steel bar is used as an assembly hole, the other end of the head is warped, and the middle two are folded and formed, and then subjected to quenching and tempering heat treatment.
Due to the overheating sensitivity of 65Mn steel, quenching cracks appear and temper brittleness. In order to reduce the uneven thermal stress and tissue stress caused by the overheating of the oil dipstick, which leads to the quenching, tempering deformation, and cracking of the oil dipstick, a manufacturer adopts the heat treatment process of salt bath heating (860 ℃) quenching and low-temperature tempering at 250 ℃. However, 65Mn steel is quenched in a salt bath, which causes the surface of the oil dipstick to corrode at high temperatures, causing serious corrosion pitting. After 48 hours of storage, the surface begins to corrode, which not only affects the appearance quality of the product but also pollutes the lubricating oil during use.
